The IEC/TC13 WG11 working group meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission was recently held in Torun, Poland, with great success. In order to examine the most recent authoring and revision of standards connected to smart meters, the meeting brought together over 60 specialists from over a dozen nations and regions, including China, Switzerland, Canada, Poland, France, the Netherlands, Germany, India, Australia, Brazil, and Japan.
The experts in attendance engaged in heated debates after the Chinese delegation presented work ideas and updates on the revision project of the smart meter reliability test standard (IEC 62059-31-1). One by one, the Chinese delegation responded to the experts' queries. The meeting confirmed the project's direction and content while reaffirming its importance.
The proposal of this standard revision project is not only a breakthrough in China's participation in the international standardization process of smart meters, but also reflects China's gradually increasing influence in the field of global smart grid standard setting.
